First Nation health managers are becoming more involved in the delivery of new health services and the service environment continues to expand in terms of complexity. Health managers require access to a variety of toolboxes that will assist them to provide professional services to help develop health service capacity in their communities.

This workshop will be of interest to health managers that are looking for a set of essential tools that are effective and efficient in helping them address opportunities and challenges in leading and managing strategy, policies, people, programs and services. For some the workshop may be a handy refresher and for others valuable information they wish they had years ago. The workshop will feature the first toolbox that has been designed for health managers based on the health manager competency standards.

Participants will be introduced to the tools from the first toolbox, and gain an understanding of the intent and application of the tools. In groups, participants
will consider and apply the tools based on case scenarios. Participants will also provide input on the development of future tools.

All participants will be provided with a copy of the publication “First Nations Health Managers Toolbox”.
